My F.R.I.E.N.D.S

My Best F.R.I.E.N.D.S - Chandler, Monica, Joey, Phoebe, Ross and Rachel.

Chandler - "The guy who works on Numbers". His sarcastic remarks are his trademark. Also on his resume are his inability to get into a relationship, ability to point put the slightest defect in women and his ability to make fun of everything and anything.

Monica - "The hyper organized pain in the ass CHEF". She maintains her apartment like it is a clean room. Adorable for her sillyness and lovable for her warmth, she adds a new dimension to friends.

Phoebe - "The crack up from the street". She's the "breakaway" from the gang. Brought up on the streets afetr her mother killed herself this tough ass is a tough propsition. Cute in her ways and amazing in her remarks she can make ur ribs tickle without sayin anythin at all.

Joey - "The package is good looking....but the inside??". This Hot "Actor" is a venus fly trap for the women of New York. Having sex and eating are joeys two favorite pass times. Others include watching bay watch, lazing around and drinking beer.

Ross - " The Gentleman of the Gang". The palentologist, The Ph.D!!!. His intellect is restricted to dinasours. He loves relationships and has quite a few. Relationships usually end in divorce for ross. He's Ross the Divorce Force!!. 3 marraiges, 3 divorces and 2 children are his achievments at the age of 35.

Rachel - "The Fashion Queen - Queen rachel". The hottie of the gang and ross's crush for 19 yrs. Her potrayal of a spoilt girl rising up to the occasion is impeccable. Wether its blooming dales or Ralph lauren she stuns the audience with her humour especially wen she throws a fit. This hot actress is one hott addition to my Freinds list.

So who do I look up to???

Well am jus takin paparzzi's blog title jus to discuss it from a differnt point of view.

Every aspect of human life is acquired. Acquired from tradition, culture, elders, achievers, saints, philosophers and even cartoon charecters. When these acquired charecterstics are mixed with new thoughts they become unique. That uniqueness defines the person.

My role models are in plenty. For me the greatest ability or gift that a person can have is the power to influence other peoples lives. For that i respect and look up to every person who can do that.

I look up to Dr.Kalam for his intellect.

I look up to Schumacher for sheer talent.

I look up to Sachin for his all round charecter.

I look up to Rajini for his ability to entice people.

I look up to Dravid for his selflessness

I look up to Ganguly for his ferocity.

I look up to Zambrotta for his never say die attitude.

I look up to every Jawan for sacrifice.

I look up to Clinton for charisma.

I look up to Sharukh for the sheer effect of his presence.

I look up to Hitler for his patriotism.

Not just famous people, i look up and try to put into me certain qualities of certain people i meet everyday. People who r my frens, my family.

I look up to my Dad for his patience.

I look up to my mom for her enthusiasm.

I look up to Ranga for loyalty.

I look up to Savitha for grit and dedication.

I look up to Ash for her frankness and stability.

I look up to Jugs for his ability to influence.

I look up to John for inspiration.

I look up to Nan for her level headedness.

I look up to radha for her ability to be a " model freind ".

I look up to Prasanna for his hard work.

I look up to Hari for his piousness.

I look up to GOD for his benevolence.

So there goes. If i could inculcate each one of those charecters in me, along with the little goodness i already have, I hope one day i would have the ability to influence people and do something huge for the community at large.

My ultimate aim - to be included in people's role model lists !!!

I am trying. I am........

Indian Hockey - The need for Professionalism

I am writing this blog after 60 mins of the India v Malasyia match at the Azlan Shah Hockey tournament. Beleive me, i am a person who never speaks ill of Indian Sport. But you are going to see a different me in this blog. I really found the need to cry out loud after watching this appaling performance.

Passes going straight to the opposition, Missed traps, irresponsible shots, lapses of concentration, missed chances. This is all that i have been seeing over the past hour. How much worse can it get?. Worst of all seeing our so called coach "Rajinder singh Jr" standing absolutley lost and all alone, biting his nails has got me into a fury. Where is the assistant coach? Where is the manager? Where are the substitutes? Why is the coach not involved with them. For God sake get these people a laptop. Make some notes atleast on a paper.

Next this Arjun Hallapa, how can a international hockey player miss to trap a shot from a penalty corner? We could have been 2-1 up and that would have changed the scenario upside down. He goes straight into the striking circle with an absoulutley stunning run and then raises his arm to claim for a penalty corner. What the hell is he trying?. A slap shot would have atleast put some one in the fray for a tap in.

Professionalism. These hockey players know little what it means. Dont teach them hockey. Teach them to be proffesional. Get them to attend 3 or 4 cricket training sessions and matches. International sport is not backyard hockey. Get this coach to have a chat with John Wright on player management. Get this team to have a chat with Sachin Tendulakar and Anil Kumble on responsiblilites and dedication.

The IHF is another all powerful but pathetically managed organisation. It is doomed to never be resurrected. No discretion what so ever in appointing coaches and selecting players. When it comes to managing sport, one should forget the saying "its JUST a sport". IT IS SPORT!!!!

People blame cricket for hockeys unpopularity. One sport can never become obselete because of another. Take Australia for example. They are in a credible position in Cricket, Rugby, Football, Hockey, Tennis and what not. When a sport is played as a JOB without passion, dont expect people to watch it. When India won the Asia Cup a couple of years back, the sport took such a peak in ratings. the players should have never looked back. Instead all they did was dropped their form and started losing to everybody. Incontrast the cricket team has never looked back from the world cup win in 1983 and has gone from strength to strength. Now only the cynics dont like cricket.

The PHL was an amazing idea but should have been put into a better format. To make people sit up and take notice Concrete team managements, transfers, Home and Away matches should be organised in a corporate manner to resemble the EPL or the Serie A.

Lets just hope and pray that this awesome sport will be resurrected in the near future with some passionate performances and a stable innovative management. God Help Indian Hockey.

Chappell......will he get it Wright?

The nominations are "Greg CHAPPPPELLLL", "Jimmy AMARNAAATH", "Desmond HAYEENS" & "Tom MOOODY"......... and the wwinnnnner is Greg CHAPPPPELLL.
So chappell is the coach, what can he do?. what is his job? what should be his priorities? Will he get them wright?

An excellent batsmen durin his hay days , how good a coach will he make? People are going to compare him with wright and his magic. But even for wright the magic finally wore off. Chappell has to bring in the long awaited freshness in ideas and tactics.

Under him this group of 11 amazing cricketers have to attain their 2002 world cup form and more importantly beat the seemingly unbeatable australians. What does Greg need to do for that?.

Numero Uno, he has to make sure the talent is not wasted. It is perfectly excusable if Sehwag or Sachin get out to an unplayable seaming in the corridor McGrath delivery, but if a mad swing at a ball on the 4th stump outside off leads to a catch at point or 2nd slip the player has to be told off. The stakes are just too high to make such mistakes and call them "faltering concentration".

Secondly he will have to take it on himself to keep Ganguly off the pressure from all the quarters. A confident captain is essential to a confident team. Wether ganguly is scoring or not his agrresive instinct & never say die attitude is absolutley essential to the performance of the team. Not only should he work on ganguly's batting but also coax him into believing that he is in this team as a "specialist captain". If the bengal tiger can roar again and fight the australian poachers, these indian tigers will never ever become extinct.

Next, The bowlers. Only god knows what can be done with them. Greg has to make it clear to these bunch of talented Sportsmen that glamourous but inconsitent performances will not be appreciated. A set of 6 bowlers have to be groomed and used in a rotation system. Injuries have to be avoided. We cannot afford to let Pathan and Zaheer always be on "comeback trails". We need them match fit as much as possible. For this he has to extract the best out of the trainer and the physio. Also a manhunt is absolutley necessary to find ONE "FAST " bowler. An incisive trump card like that is absolutley necessary on flat batsman friendly wickets. What we need is a bowler who dosent need the pitch to get wickets - A bowler who can "throw" the ball at a consistent 90 mph.

Lastly if I were Chappell i would create aPlayer Grading System (PGS) to scale the players and enable selection. This point scaling would be based on not only the score card (runs , wickets and catches) but also aspects like level of influence on the team, fielding points (runs saved and stopped), on the field effort & off the field effort. Effort would be given top priority. How much of effort translates into performance is also important. That can be called the effort to performance ratio(EPR) . This ratio would also give a direct idea of the talent and current form of the player. Most importantly something that all grading systems lack is taking into account past performances. This PGS would have certain base level of points based on past performance because better the past performance, more the pressure. More pressure tends to lead to a lower EPR. Another parameter to be incorporated, especially for the bowlers is the fatigue levels. It must be made sure that our bowlers donot go into sebaticles every 2 months. Its better to loose Pathan for 1 match every 3 matches rather than loose him 6 matches in a row. Otherwise work him lower in the nets.

Lets just hope and pray that Chappell can take this GREAT INDIAN TEAM to new levels of glory and may be even get a "temple" built for himself in India. Hail India!. Hopefully winners of World Cup 2007. Saurav take the trophy. Sachin ...... give him that honour!!!!

From the Sportstar - May 8 2004

STARS do shine. But during the day, the sun's brightness overshadows them. In this GREAT INDIAN TEAM, Sachin is the sun, Dravid is the star. Dravid is definitely the cricketer, who is contributing most to the team (batting combined with wicket-keeping), but as a batsman Sachin's exploits are incomparable.

I would say, Sachin has a plethora of something in him, in-born, innate that Rahul lacks. He's got something that Schumacher has, but not Barrichello, Something that McEnroe had but not Borg, Something that Ronaldo has, but not Rivaldo. It is this added characteristic that makes sportspersons extra special. They are given demigod status by the masses.

Dravid has come in an era which has already a master, a virtuoso, a God! I would say, the big three in Indian cricket — Sachin, Sourav, and Dravid, each one adds his own element of flavour. Instead of debating which of the three is God, I would say, they are the Trinity of Indian cricket. Sourav like Brahma "creates" new revolutions, Rahul like Vishnu "protects" the team in distress, and Sachin like Shiva "Destroys" his opponents. If you still have doubts ask Shoaib Akhtar or Nirmal Shekar.

From the Sportstar - May 14 2005

CRICKET is one sport where the captain plays a special role. Without an able captain, a team rarely performs. Ganguly is one captain who handled his role with a natural flair. In cricket, I have seen a natural stroke-maker in Sehwag, a natural swing bowler in McGrath and even a natural Maestro in Sachin. Never before have I seen a captain as naturally gifted as Ganguly. Raw passion, a sharp instinct, an indomitable ego and the supreme trust he places in his players have made Ganguly an epitome of a captain. Imagine a person handling 18 hours of pressure a day, for five years, be it from his opponents, from his board, from his sponsors or from his fans. It is simply not easy. Everyone will acknowledge that Sachin was born to play cricket. If there was one thing in cricket that this genius stepped out of, it was captaincy. That captaincy, Ganguly took up.

His contribution with the bat is just an added asset. His captaincy is his speciality. Will England drop Beckham from the squad? Will Ferrari drop Schumacher? Will one drop Tiger Woods from a US golf team? Will one drop Ganguly from the Indian team? The answers for all these questions are the same.
